Keeping Faithful in your passions

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”

– James 1:12

Trials… those hard times in life that sometimes push you down to your breaking point. It can be really hard to remain faithful when things get tough. Even though our passions are the things we enjoy the most in life.. it can still be tough to remain faithful in them as well.

Remaining faithful in your passions simply means: don’t give up. No matter what the case is or where you are in life… it will get better. I find you always need to have a positive look on things or you won’t go anywhere. Other than not giving up, you need to stick to who you are and what God calls you to do. You can’t compromise the Godly person you are just for worldly things. We are put on this earth for a reason.. Is that one of our passions? Is that something we are staying faithful in?

Personally, out of those two things, I struggle the most with not giving up. One of my passions is photography and videography. Those two businesses are hard to be in, and it is easy to get caught up in comparing my work to others and thinking I am not good enough. That isn’t the case though, and that is not how God thinks of me. I have to remind myself that I love what I do, so why compare? God made me the way I am, for a reason, and I am going to be faithful to him and my work. So I need to stop comparing and be more focused on my work and how it is spreading God’s name.

Here are some verses that help me stay faithful in everything I do. I challenge you to pick one of them and pray about it this week. Ask God to help you stay faithful in the good, bad and ugly times. Memorize the verse. Write it on a card and place it somewhere where you will always see it. Talk to God, he wants to hear from you. Stay faithful!

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” – Hebrews 10:23

“A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.” – Proverbs 28:20

“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” – Revelation 2:10
